Host a Bicycle Collection

To host a bike collection is a great way to help out with Africycle.  Bikes are a HUGE part of our operation, so to have members of the community participate in their collection is a great way to help.

To host a collection:

Select a location (business or church parking lots are GREAT!), a day and time.  Many businesses love the attention, so don't be shy to ask for a part of the parking lot for a day.  The traffic is great for business!

Note: Collections must be held within 100KM of our Uxbridge location for us to be able to come and pick the bikes up on the same day.  Should the collection be outside that area, please contact us to make other arrangements.

2)  Contact Africycle and let us know about your plans, potential dates and location.  We will work with you to arrange for a driver to bring the 'bike bus' to your collection to get all the bikes you collect that day.

3)  Distribute printed material, spread the word and pray for nice weather!

4)  Have a few volunteers join you on the day of, helping people to unload bikes and talking to people as they stop by.  Taking some time to understand what Africycle does is key, this website is a great way to do that.  We also have some printed material we can send you to distribute to people during the collection.

5)  As people drop bikes, please have them fill out the donation form (here) and collect any donations to help out Africycle.  Each bicycle costs about $50 to send to Africa, so every bit helps!

6)  Give all the forms, money and donation information to the Africycle representative who has picked up the bikes that day.

Celebrate!  You did it and are a part of making a difference in Malawi!!

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
