Position: Assistant Bicycle Mechanic
Location: Uxbridge, Ontario
Opportunity
The Assistant Bicycle Mechanic will provide support to the Canadian Coordinator refurbishing vintage and modern bicycles, tuning and cleaning bicycles, assisting with social media and content. The Assistant Bicycle Mechanic will also help organize workspaces, preparing bicycles for shipment to Malawi, picking up and loading bicycles from drop off points to the storage facility, and promotion at Africycle events. Some weekends are required.
Qualifications
-Applicants must be a Canadian citizen who just completed full-time school (high school, college, or university) and intends to return to school in the coming term and must be between the ages of 15-30.
-Posses a general understanding of bicycle mechanics.
-Comfortable working hands on with bicycles.
-Self-starter and ability to work under minimal supervision but are receptive to feedback.
-Previous or current volunteer experience.
-Have at least one (1) year of other work experience.
-Ability to lift 50 lbs.
-Must have transportation to and from work.
-Ontario G-Class Drivers License with clean driving record.
-Bicycle mechanic skills considered an asset.
-Completing studies in a related field is considered an asset.

Position: Bicycle Collection Assistant
Location: Uxbridge, Ontario
Opportunity
The Bicycle Collection Assistant will provide support to the Canadian Coordinator during bicycle collection days in the GTA, planning bicycle pick ups, preparing bicycles for shipment to Malawi, mobilize volunteers for packing containers, tuning and cleaning bicycles to sell in Ontario, picking up and loading bicycles from drop off points to the storage facility with collection bus, assisting with social media, promotion at Africycle events, preparation, screening and sorting of bicycles. Some weekends are required.
Qualifications
-Applicants must be a Canadian citizen who just completed full-time school (high school, college, or university) and intends to return to school in the coming term and must be between the ages of 15-30.
-Experience in event planning and/or marketing.
-Experience working with community and volunteer groups.
-Comfortable working with volunteers and new faces throughout the summer.
-Confident with public speaking.
-Self-starter and ability to work under minimal supervision but are receptive to feedback.
-Previous or current volunteer experience in Durham Region or the GTA.
-Have at least one (1) year of other work experience.
-Ability to lift 50 lbs.
-Must have transportation to and from work.
-Ontario G-Class Drivers License with clean driving record.
